Pollution

The water splashes
up against the rocks
The fish follow the currents
around and under the docks
The ducks graze the water
searching for food
the picturesque scene
causes a calm sort of mood
The sun shining brightly
against the cloudless sky
Looking it over
one wonders why
Why would anyone
ruin such a glorious show
by throwing trash on the beach
when they decide to go?
Pop cans and diapers
and then toxic waste
Our glorious lakes
no longer pure enough to taste
Cigarette butts
take years to biodegrade
to once again become nature
Although it's never the same
Beer cans and newpaper
and empty lotion bottles
It gets so bad
that there not one kid can toddle
Next come the fish
bloated and dead
Floating along
the riverside bed
Three eyes on one
two tails on another
I wouldn't wish this on
my worst enemy's brother
Technology's good
Or that's what they say
So why can't they just
throw their trash away??
